Northern Sask highway became so impassable that leaders declared a state of emergency

the terrible condition of this Northern community’s only Road in and out is cutting them off from the rest of the province Cumberland House is a scatch one’s oldest Community it’s declared a state of emergency Highway 123 is the community’s lifeline people rely on it to get in things like food mail medicine and fuel there’s no selfservice on that road so if you get stuck you’re stuck there you just have to hope someone that comes by and they’ll help you trucks that bring food to the store or fuel to the town can’t even get by at times we’re very worried about our elders because most of them can’t leave the house themselves with the ambulances they aren’t even leaving the town they’re only taking people out by a flight community members are begging for help and Community leaders are calling on the provincial and federal governments to do something immediately there’s $3 million that are being invested in that immediately uh here this summer I’m we’re you know going to be meeting with the Department of Highways if there needs to be more to ensure that uh the road is passable

Highway 123 is the only road access into Cumberland House, in northeast Saskatchewan.

It became so impassable this spring that leaders declared a state of emergency.

Mayor Ferlin McKay said provincial highway crews have made repairs, but he thinks they will only hold temporarily, because they just scooped up muddy gravel that had washed away and pushed it back onto the road.

    1. People of saskatchewan remember this next time. It's time to vote in the election and remember what the conservatives have not done.
One more thing, everybody today is the 80th anniversary of D-Day. When our boys went on the beaches of Normandy let us all remember them and God bless them all.
